The Prodigy releases / Re: DP beat in BGAT
May 20, 2002, 10:40:25 PM
I had thoughts like this as well, although I still think it's good material I'm dissapointed because of the old scheme and beats and all we talked about here, and I had to discover that BGAT somehow fades to grey with the time.
Might be because it's too detailed. Older stuff was more rough and on the point.
Must be terrible to know that there are fans outside of your studio, waiting for the 'perfect' masterpiece, doesn't matter how talented you are and what you say, that's pressuring a lot

It's definitive the same measure and bd, though the DP one is more crisp and full, BGAT'S bd is more in the background - and yeah - I have to confess: Although I liked the track a bit better everytime I heard it, I'm somewhat exhausted with it by now.
Dunno about buying the single, really...
Nice effort btw, Des

Yeaaah, but wasn't it always like this?
After every album he said it was the last that had been written.

I remember an article mentioning their sometimes totally incalculable contrariness.

THAT is what they are really about... Contradiction.

Yeah, but it IS old stuff if you want.
It's typical FOTL-material, so a comparision seems appropriate.
I like the track, but as mentioned, it get's a bit boring and repetitive with the time. If there wasn't any FOTL-music before, it would have been a new star in the sky.
We talked about that so much here and the main thing pissing people off seems to be the fact that after long five years you still get 'old' music.

Cheers

I think I know why y'all kind of dissapointed with the new prodigy material. You're too focused on FOTL, or on the early prodigy albums in general

No, we're focused on NEW stuff

yep I agree, JXL has gone back to what he was doing in 98 which was big beat...but then he went all techno, I seen him support underworld....and he was pure techno..now he's gone back hopping on the bootleging bandwagon with the elvis vocals...Ok its way less credable to what howlett has done with BGAT..but their incentive is the same

Ive been hearing BGAT for the past 5 years if you know what I mean.....

Right, I know what you mean, and I really think that Elvis-thingie sounds totally like Mr. Slim's music about three years ago. Which was what I adored a lot then, but it soon lost its flavour, maybe now I'm ready for another round Love Island again, but I remember loosing even the last drip of interest when I saw that Slim's music were handled like booze-hymns in Brightons clubs, brrrr, fat sweating football-fans... (Sorry If I caught someone with that, was just a metaphor...)

And BGAT isn't really new stuff, indeed, and it destroys what I thought was the plan of Howlett, to out bring a record (including the 1. single) that sounds different to the previous one.
But I like, like mentioned, the track because of its high level of detail, it's like the lost track from the FOTL.
God can be found in the detail - a famous saying here.

Yeah, as I think about it, it should have been on the FOTL, between Serial Thrilla and Mindfields...

Yeah, sure, but if you have something that you don't find interesting being repeated over and over again (JXL), than this just stands back against something being repeated (not even over and over again but put onto another level) that you love.

There was a little chat about JXL at the tracks -thread already, IIRC. I think he did about only four good tunes.
Question of taste, of course.

The Prodigy releases / Re: BGAT FULL VERSION
May 11, 2002, 05:11:08 PM
Uuaaaargh, you can't even hear the drums....!
*lol*

Now we have a good, short excerpt and a bad, full excerpt.
Mhm.
Unfortunately we can't melt that.
And to Philchill:

"If you give me somewhere to upload it i'll do an edit job on it, make it sound pukka and then everyone can hear it almost as it should be, no error, no shit just pure prodigy niceness "

Good luck dude... !

remember the UK should have had the premiere first, the Finnish radio station broke the embargo on playing the record last week.(me feelin they gonna get a fine)

But hey, "fuck em' and their law!!!"

It seems Finland is a nice place to be with beautiful nature and surpassing brave radio stations.

Okay, now this version is surely too close to the final single to
say it can't be rated yet.

So I rate it and I rate it a good 8 out of 10.

Contra:
- Same old bullshit
- unsuccessful censoring-noises making it a bit diffuse
- personally, I still miss certain parts from the live version
(- Keith doing the vocals)

Pro:
- Solid buttrocker
- very detailed work and excellent mixing
- good ideas, very subtile sometimes

Although it's a very familiar song, it's the detailed sound and mixing that takes the overall niveau a level higher.
I was wondering why he needed 1 month to mix the track...
That's clear now.

SakuS has earned himself a cheesy online medal, I find! ;-)
I heard a rumor that R. Mafia paid 500.000 $ to get the permission to air the song... mad
