QuoteLong time no see mate. Welcome back! I'm peeking in here every now and then. Most of the action is over at Brainkiller.it (moderator), followed by NekoZine.co.uk, TheProdigy.nl (co-owner) and the official forum. I suggest that you head over to Brainkiller.it and register on the forum! ;)

Hey Arie...

Well, I kinda already registered everywhere, but the only place I hang out and post once in a while is Nekos, since brainkillers had a somehow rough start (strange people in the beginning), but it looks like all the good people are over there now.
The official board didn't look very well to me, but I guess I'll be checking in there too.
And hey, theprodigy.nl is new to me, let's see what Arie is up to over there...

Cheers!

I haven't been around since years... My oh my, it still looks the same.
It's pretty sad that this site seems dead, always appealed of all the Prodge-pages the most to me. Most hands on information, Juges perfect recherched lists of pictures, equipment and co.

So where are you peeps?

I am one to ask, I know. I just saw that my latest pn was from 2001, I have been missing since a looooong time...

Looks like Arie is one of the few 'regular' posters here.

Stuff still around? Zed? Evans? All the good people from around 2000?

I guess I lost a bit interest in Prodge since 2002 or so, and AONO certainly didn't help.

If anyone of you old school members is up for a nerdy tech chat, gimme a sign!  ;D

And JuGe... Man, you gotta do something with this page of yours. It always was the best of all the Prodigy-websites, so get yer arse up and spank it up right nice, willya??  ;D ;)

Cheers mates,
Ekko

and what the fuck is all the "firestarter" bashing i see here?? are you people out of your mind?!?!?! i don't know what it is that you smoking but anyway STOP IT!!
firestarter is one of the most powerful and kick ass prodigy songs ever made!! it have so much power in it.. and the vox are KILLER!

Please Senore, we don't need another "ThisTrackKixxAssBecause" and "WhyCan'tYouUnderstandThatItRocks"-discussion no more.
It's a question of taste, so don't waste your time explaining that to you it's the best/worth track ever or something.
We're spammed with that stuff already

Yeah, you're right, it doesn't do much asking why anyone doesn't like a track, but I'd like to shortly explain why I like The Trick, because this time it is little different.

The Pianoriff isn't too clever, right, the beats are okay, nothing earth shattering but they just *sound* good in my ears, I like the *sound* of the track.
Same for Molotov Bitch, it's not that musical masterpiece but good engineered anyway, it shows the tight and neat production work of Mr. H. (or Mr. M.)

Aiiii
what is wrong with 3 Kilos??
It's the Prodigy-party-session track itself, everybody is freaking out when it plays...

And The Trick, it's nice, not? Construction-style like Molotov Bitch.

But, I know, every taste is different

P.S.: I very much loved the sweet synth-line in that Jesus Jones rmx, anyone else in here who did? Maybe?

Yeah, that's the main-point, I think you're absolutely right there, it's the vast amount of releases that -even if not highest Prodigy-standart- are on a amazing level, qualitywise.

And I have to agree here too:
Poison, Narayan, Funky Shit and Break & Enter are the favourites of my favourite bunch of Prodgetracks.

Oh, forgot one:

No good -  don't like it either, I can totally stand it, but it does not have a cool vibe I think.
Plus: All the girls love that track

Hoho, you really don't like it...

But Crazyman was after Experience, wasn't it? Pandemonium was very cool, yepyep.

I don't like -please don't freak out on me- Firestarter.
It's harmless. I don't like the vocals, I don't like that shitty drumloop that even I have here on my computer, I don't like that silly repeating Breeder's sample and I don't like all the fx in it.
I really don't get where exactly this track kixx ass, I guess at least half of the fuzz was just about the vocs, can't imagine why else.
And it's not that I don't like Keith singing on the tracks since then, I loved Serial Thrilla for example.
However.

Greetings,
Ekko

This was just my top-ten for the recent present - I am most likely to change my mind in the near future as I have wide range of music I listen too, plus! its quite hard to just pick out 10.

Actually I'm fine with 10, if I had to pick more, I would sit here for ages. At the Top Party Tune -thread I wanted to select about maybe 30 tracks maximum but I couldn't withhold myself.
My all-time faves are more the ones in the Top-party-thread.
Not that anyone cares...

1. Air - All I Need
2. Labouze - Fairy Shoes
3. Aphrodites Child -  The Four Horsemen
4. Mike Post - Theme from Magnum

6. Jethro Tull - Black Mamba
7. Lalo Schifrin - Theme From Dirty Harry
8. G'n'R - Paradise City
9. Beastie Boys - Rhymin & Stealin
10. Cymande - Brothers On The Slide

No particular order.

This King Tubby makes me go sick...
The atmosphere is so oldschool and the harmonies are as well, but something about is modern.
Maybe it's just me, but I really and honestly consider it one of the coolest sounding eerm - oldskool/breakbeat/whatever - songs. You should go back on that and pump it up a little (maybe phattening the sum of the beats with a good compressor and putting a good limiter on top of the overall sum (PSP vintage warmer)), that would make it even better.

PSY01 sounded quite good, although I'm not that much of a goa-attracted listener.

All the tracks seem to be really made with an effort in drum-programming and changeing patterns! Really miss that sometimes with Liams beats...  >:(
They're quite static,mostly.

Out Of My House made me anxious  ;D
Pretty Jilted-Like Horror-movie-like samples - cool!

One track I liked a lot (although I consider myself out of the Jungle-listening-time..) was Friday At The Pre-Party.
The intro fits good with the rest and the Oaahh at 0:48 (and following) functions so cool, very moody, somehow.

I think you always move on the edge of packing too much ideas and samples in your songs, but it definitely works. ;)

Maybe you should use more compression and equing (mainly on the drums) from time to time, that would make the sound even more earcandy-ish...
 ;D

Continue!
Greetings, Ekko

(brrrr! Do you like the Silent Hill-type of 'clicky-monsters'...?)  :-X

yea i know.. it sounds like a Crazy Man/SMBU sample. But it's not - promise! It's actually a digeridoo. (Liam's sample sounds more like a lowtune brass sound, at least to me ; ).

"Ruffcut" needs a bit more work. It tends to be repetetive and lacks in some parts - i.e. it needs another synth element like you mentioned..
Though, i don't think there are 2 drum bars that are 100% identical in this song. But then, who will really notice it. ???

Maybe Richard D James will  ;D
Btw., saw that DVD from Chris Cunningham, that guy who did some videos for Aphex Twin and Squarepuscher and Bj
