Samples / hyperspeed sample sources
Last post by hippy dave - February 24, 2004, 01:25:41 AM
hi,
has anyone found a source for the short vocal in hyperspeed, that's something like "heepa", or as someone suggested "keep up" - or as someone else suggested, "hitler"... hmmm not so sure about that one ;)
the other one i'm interested in is the kinda rattly noise, the easiest way for me to identify it is that it's the noise at the very end of the track.
i know these are pretty obscure ones but you never know 'til you ask. cheers.

Hmm... I think it sounds similar because of lots of crash sounds on background, Liam could just sample down the beats, so, I think the sounds are similar by an accident.

Wondering what you sample heads think of this one. I've got mixed response on it. I found this about a year or so ago when I was listening to Liam's Breezeblock mix. This was one of the few songs that was on the Breezeblock, but not on Dirtchamber Sessions. I heard the song in the mix, and I said shit I should listen to that (since I own all of Hendrix's albums). So in Breezeblock, only the middle parts used, but when I put the album version on I said, "fuck me, hold tight"... where have I heard that before? After a few listens I was positive it was a slowed down drum beat from Narayan (specifically, the 7:05 drum break). It's not a direct sample like a lot of Liam's, but it sounds too similar IMO not to at least be an influence on the song (especially since it's a song Liam obviously likes). Whatcha think?

...And also the hammer from Charly (Single Version) and weather experience

One of the breakbeats in Charly was 'Think (about it)' by Lyn collins I believe

The breakbeat from Lyn Collin's Think is definately not the same in Charly, however it is used in numerous other tracks (not Prodigy). Thank you for the source coz I've been looking for the break for ages (especially with the whoo.....yeah vocals on it).
I dunno if anybody noticed but there's a break used by Liam in many tracks - most noticeably in Fire (Edit) and Instruments of Darkness Remix (less clear but still it can be probably heard in Their Law). I think it is taken from Eric B and Rakim's - Let The Rhythm Hit'Em. However I wonder if there's any other source (more "clean" one) because I think the bass sound is too loud in this one.

I'm not going to post any kind of sample here, it's to much for my lazyness, but anyway
that's what I know:

Song: Fire (Original & Sunrise Vrs)
Sample: vocal <when I was a yute I used to burn collie weed inna Rizla>
Source: Pablo Gad's "Hard Times" (Reggae On Top)
The "when I was..." sample is in the final part of the song (after the 1st verse has been repeated) and it's repeated one more time a lil bit later.

Song: Fire (Original Vrs)
Sample: vocals <are you feelin'?> <in the party?>
Source: a live version of Aswad's "African Children"
This track is quite easy to find on WinMx, the vocal sample is at the far end of the track, when the tune is done and you can hear massive screaming, then the singer says "Are you feelin?(massive shouts)In the party?(shouts)"
