Inflicted was a deliberate Prodigy hoax created by Tobi Wood during the countdown to The Fat of the Land. Frustrated by CD bootleg pirates who were taking material from his Prodigy website and selling it, Wood decided to turn the tables by creating a fake album called Inflicted. The release was designed to look convincing and featured mostly genuine Prodigy tracks, but three tracks were completely fabricated: “Salvationed Army,” “In The Beginning,” and a fake “Benny Blanco.” These were composed by Wood himself, with the fake material reportedly convincing enough to fool unsuspecting fans. Even the album artwork was part of the deception, featuring a briefcase filled with drugs and syringes. Images of the same briefcase were also published on the original Prodigy Condensable website, adding credibility to the hoax. As a result, Inflicted became one of the more elaborate and memorable fake The Prodigy releases of the 1990s.
