new direction

I' m a bit afraid of the new directions they're going into. Less samples, Liam who will try to play other instruments and Keith who will sing a lot more. And baby's got a temper as the first single? I think that's a bad idea, the song is too slow and the structure is to clich

Don't judge BGAT too early, as Martin said the studio version will be well different from what we heard live (/over the net) so far. And Nuclear as a possible second single might be clever marketing, but I guess it will need some heavy work to be more 'airplayable'.

Interesting of course is, that Liam wasn't backed up by his record collection when writing for the new record.
He played some instruments himself as the interview reveals and as far as we know he can play the drums and bongos, bass and of course keyboards. Maybe he learned playing the guitar with Keith together. Or he started some weird instruments like sitar of didgeridoo, would be really cool.

And to BGAT again, that it's slow isn't bad, Liam wrote slow burners as well as fast ones and he said it'll be guite an aggressive sounding track. He might have fatened up the drums and this crunchy synthline all over the song.

liam has already played guitars and drums on his records. he's not lance riddler (as suggested) but he hasn't only ever let outsiders play the guitar.

and Thomas, you just shouldn't judge stuff untill you know it. that's exactly what people always slag journalists off for.

finally 'Nuclear' is stunning. you just can't tell from a bad live recording. you haven't heard the bass, the subtlety, the energy - you've only heard the basic structure.

That's right, I think it's often forgotten that Liam seems to have a real high quality-self-control.

As for Nuclear, I'm sure it'll be a great track and make sense if really released as the second single.

Time to get excited

ekko and the rest: if the album is finally crap, would you recognize it or will pretend that it sounds wicked??

I just doubt it... ;D

Now why would someone pretend to like an album!

Of course I would recognize it, no need to lie.
But if there were only five tracks like BGAT on the record (and the rest would be a nice warm white noise) it would be outstanding already.

Hey, you doubt what...?  :)

Yes, that's it. The basic structure. The god damn basic structure. It's funny how Serial Thrilla (live testing version) turned into something filled with energy and explosive bass plus dusty vocals, as a studio version. I'm not sceptic, I truly believe that the guys wont f.u.c.k up and the bomb will drop. Oh boy, you can bet your ass it will.

Mkay?  ;)

thomas, i think Martin is right on this one, the only version of BGAT that we got isn't really good. It's a low quality recording of a live gig, same goes for nuclear and trigger. I think we better wait for the final album versions where the lyrics are clearer and the basses stronger. Let's hope the waiting doesn't takes too long anymore.

Ok, my reaction seems a bit overreacted. I know studio recordings can sound brilliant. I just hope that Keith won't sing all over the album cos he already sings in the 3 new songs. New instruments can give the sound a new direction. I really hope that it's not only the guitar that Liam mentions.
I really like the distortion synth sounds in BGAT, sounds a bit like the noise from dentist equipment and that's not a joke. :)

Lets face it guys, most of us think the live recordings are pretty shit quality, some better than others, but the truth is none of them give you the really bass and energy that you get from a) being there or b)listening to studio versions.

We are lucky to have the 'inside' knowledge from Martin who to be fair, is probably the only person who's gonna here BGAT until its radio airplay about a month or so before its release.

Until then NO-ONE should dis the track until they hear it!!!

P.S Martin when is it likely the promo copies will be airplayed by radio?????

You're right. I also keep stating that you can't judge the live tracks really. They can't always be compared to the final versions. You lack sounds maybe, the final version might sound more 'full'. Et cetera. Lets hope that this time they will indeed make it before July...
