The Prodigy hit Adelaide for one almighty show at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre Theatre. The show was originally scheduled to be held in Bonython Park but later moved which with the benefit on hindsight delivered a better show for fans and a sell out as well.

There does seem like there is a special chemistry between Australia and The Prodigy with most thinking about the good times that came with the Big Day Out whenever they were a part of it. Ah, they were good times. So, The Prodigy aren’t strangers to our shores returning this time to celebrate the release of their new album No Tourists. Despite the downsized venue they didn’t skimp on the full production so fans did get the full Prodigy experience. It was an onslaught of strobe lighting which may have made it look spectacular but at times making it hard to focus on their performance. Nonetheless their performance was impressive.
This wasn’t a typical show where a song was played followed by some pointless banter. It was full throttle all the way. MCs Maxim and Keith Flint act like ringleaders commanding attention and moving around the stage keeping the fans revved up and the energy level of show right up there. The crowd went off right from first drop with mega popular single Breathe getting things going. Resonate off the New Tourists sounded great followed by Nasty and Omen.
Maxim introduced Champions Of London as a new one for Adelaide then later asking “Are my Voodoo People here?” Voodoo People brought the roof down and no doubt people were hanging for old school Prodigy. The set list seemed to gravitate more towards the albums Invaders Must Die and The Day Is My Enemy. New single Need Some1 has all the hallmarks of a club classic. The Day Is My Enemy and Everybody In The Place went down well also. The crowd went nuts for the uber popular Firestarter with Maxim stating Adelaide was the place to be. So Good (Start The Dance) from Music For The Jilted Generation was a nod to the past and topping that off with set closer Smack My Bitch Up took the energy of room up higher again. The crowd wanted more with the band returning for two more with the encore consisting of We Live Forever and Timebomb Zone. The crowd were left thinking is this really it as the band left the stage in to the dark of the night. Poison and Their Law were notable omissions. The Prodigy put on a solid show proving that they aren’t tourists by any stretch.
