Title: Nicest item in your collection
Post by: Arie on November 13, 2001, 03:54:08 PM
I was wondering what other people think is the nicest item by The Prodigy which they own. It doesn't have to be something expensive or rare, but something which gives you good memories is allowed as well of course (like me).

When I first started collecting Prodigy material I read an article in which they mentioned What Evil Lurks and I thought that I would never be able to find it. When I think back of the moment that I bought my copy it makes me smile still :)

Mine would have to be the official toilet seat cover as its a nice weird item & fits on my toilet seat nicely ;D

&

My autographed cd of Wind It Up signed by all four members (Liam,Maxim,Leeroy,Keith) dunno why I prefer this to all the rest? probably cos its autographed?

&

My What Evil Lurks record (same reason as Arie) cos I never thought I'd get an original... I was dead excited about recieving it as it was a Christmas present from my Parents..

I had forgotten about the toilet seat cover, a nice item indeed. I have some official dog tags as well which are nice. Never wear the dog tags, never use the toilet seat cover, but both are nice to have. I also have an official promotional beer :)

They are great for what Jussi? There is some sort of 'cut' in one or both of them, is it to open beer or something? ;)

im not a collecter as such (aint got the money) but i tresure experience

There isnt many in NZ and took a couple of months to track it down.

i wonder if its the orignal (or first press etc)

XLCD 110

barcode 5  01093 551029

year 1992

Distributed by warner music uk

They are the main details on it anyway. anyone got the same details on theirs?

As for first press or not, you cannot really tell except by comparing two items of which you are sure that they are not the same press. The barcode stays the same in 99.99% of the cases. Also the year of release, although pressed in 2001 for instance would still say 1992. You can look at the center of the CD and compare that with other issues.

You mention XLCD 110 which is the normal catalogue number for The Prodigy Experience. This is an XL-Recordings catalogue number. You also mention that it's on Warner Bros. which means that you have the Warner Bros. release which comes with an XL-Recordings catalogue number. In short, you have a normal retail release as released on Warner Bros.

A lot of countries have their own label. Some labels are in various countries. To mention a few labels on which Prodigy have released items: XL-Recordings, Mute, Maverick, Elektra, Torso, Koch, DeLabel, Avex Trax, UDP, et cetera. For a collector, owning one of each country can be fun, just to be able to spot differences and all. For instance the disc itself might have a different color, or the sleeves are darker or lighter.

Crazy people those collectors... ;p

my firestarter is french (delabel-virgin) and it does not specify
anything about xls70-cd or something like that ;D
I'm also proud of my voodoo people 12" on mute records (7007)with the secret knowledge's remix of speedway.
there are more things but I'm tired of writing now... 8)

I don't understand what you mean at all, I don't know if you're saying that this record is easy to get and it has no value at all or what...
I think it's rare but I 'm not completely sure,it was released in 1995 on a black sleeve with a yellow sticker, the tracks are:
voodoo people(chemical brothers remix)
voodoo people (original)
no good (cj bolland museum mix)
speedway (secret knowledge remix)
its catalogue number is 7007 and it was released by mute records and xl, it's american.

I'm only curious why you wrote that this was the nicest item you own since you didn't write why really, that's all.

If it has a black sleeve, then you most likely have the normal retail release which is not rare I'm afraid. Still it is a very nice record. I'm personally starting to appreciate it more and more each time I listen to it. But it offers no special tracks really.

I was thinking lately that I'm also quite happy with my original Charly CD maxi single on XL-Recordings as well as with my original Wind It Up 12" which came with an original merchadise form. Very happy with those indeed.

And talking about that Voodoo People record, anyone who knows where to get the one with the white sleeve from? I'm looking for it still.

When I think of it, I really don't have anything special...
But I'm indeed very proud of the Zero-G-sampler with those Intro Beats on it!
At least it's the item that means most to me ^_^

This is a fake remix, please keep that in mind. On my web site you can find a list of all officially released Prodigy tracks. This does not include remixes however for other bands for the moment as well as solo work. Besides all this, I don't mean this bad, but a CDR like this can never be rare since everyone can compile such an item, no?
At first I'v never sayed that the cd is rare :o
And second, This remix is taken from the radio and it says Ganja Crew remix of SMBU.........

They play white's on the radio here every now and then of illegal covers of Voodoo People and so on, but they are still not official tracks. The same goes for tracks like these. On my web site you can find a listing of all official Prodigy tracks ever released, please take a look there. And if you find something missing, then please let me know.

Mine is probabaly my ticket from the LIvingston Forum gig in 1995 cos it was the best gig i ever saw them do, in a tiny venue on a knee-high stage that was about a foot from the front of the crowd.  And it's signed by Liam as well.  Also the shirt I wore that night cos Keith said "That's a nice shirt, I've got a pair of shorts like that"  ...not sure if that's a compliment or not, going by some of his shorts lol.  I'll be sending a scan of that ticket in to Juges site for the tickets section so you can all see. :-)

My favourite:"prodigy present the dirtchamber sessions volume one".

Dont know why, really. Im not a huge hip hop fan or sth. I just like the whole raw image of it, you know: the cover, the inlay, the "scratched" out cd, the beginnings of now famous acts.

That's what the prodigy is all about, these are their roots and I find that very essential and valuable especially cause I was listening to Prodigy Live @ Amnesia the other day and heard Maxim shouting:"...we'll always keep it raw and it'll always be hardcore..."

later...

My favourite item is definitely the One Love ring.. I said something like 3-4 years ago that I'm gonna have one sooner or later. (There is a big story behind that). I saw the box with the ring several times between 99-00 but I thought that was too expensive for me really. Anyway last summer when I was having a vacation and I was in quite good mood (that's a surprise;) I just went to one shop and I saw it again.. then I just thought.. whatta hell.. and yeh I bought it.. I'm quite happy with that box although the ring was the only item I really wanted :)

Well I have some really nice items I tresure, I suppose what evil lurks, cut to kill's listen to the basstones and my fire promo, are all nice items

But something that makes me smile is the LEEROY DAMMED MIX TAPE, that was on sale on the prodigy mechandise stalls during their christams 95/96 tour, what a rush NYE at the point was, awesome

I also have a double platinum disc set and a gold firestarter cd awarded to the prodigy for shifting over 2million copys state side, so that pretty awesome.

And also...a FlexiDIsc/Flyer for a opening night of a club that the P were involved with, in Braintree (My Home town...)...It has, I believe, a very very rare track by Leeroy on it...

I'm interested in selling, if anyone is interested....

Ekko,

Humor is good here, me thinks.
Your right though, their is no such thing as a rich student, only 'silver spoon' ones.

I sometimes wish the student days were still here, no money but no ties, sex with strangers(as long as they were female), good skunk!!!(Glasto 95,Phoenix 96, V97,ahh the memories!!!)

Sex with strangers?
What did you study?

I have like maybe 5 female co-students with me, a pity it is.
Money is okay at the moment, got side-jobs which give me enough to live, but that's it.
Yes, I guess the studying-time is one of the best in the life, don't even know why, but you have a certain view of life as a student. Mostly. It's like studying something to be good at it later on but right now you just try out your life, caring less about the subject.

Just got up, need a tea now

the probably rarest item i have is a French promo of Funky Shit (EDIT), since i don't know anyone else who has got it. and the sneaker pimps firestarter 7" was a nice find too.

out of the promos i have, my favorite promo is probably the firestarter DJ promo 12" although it is not so rare.

probably nicest items are the ones that arent worth much, but more relate to personal memory, especially live shows. old tickets and passes, my pass for the sofia show signed by all four members, setlist from auckland bdo where bgat was played the first time ever and after the bdo tour Liam gave me his pass for the bdo shows, which is quite a cool memory too :)

As you might know, it's not really limited.

Emotional value of an item makes a record worth more than anything. A simple card could be a master piece in your eyes then. I'm very happy with my Japanese double CD of Music For The Jilted Generation for that reason. I found it and I was so happy back then :) Ah, the good memories...! ;)

Wow, I have the box set, minus the cool nose ring(that I would never wear).  The coolest part about it is deffinitely the One Love ring, and I've got a major crush on the black felt box that the singles are in.  I found this item at my local Wherehouse Music, in Oklahoma about 2 years ago.  The outer box was all mest up, and I only had to shell out 38 us dollars for it.  Pretty rad if you ask me.  Another one of my favorites is music for the jilted generation cd, canadian, on XL only.  By the way, my box is number 282.
